About FlippaBall

After a successful FlippaBall year in 2016 Vikings Water Polo Club are excited to be part of the Water Polo Australia pilot FlippaBall program for juniors aged under 12 years.

The FlippaBall program is designed to introduce juniors to the sport of water polo. The key objective of the program is to develop fundamental skills and an understanding and enjoyment of the game.  Through the program players will learn and develop important ball skills and water skills that are not only needed to play the sport but are also important water survival skills, including the egg-beater kick, that are taught by Royal Life Saving Australia in their Swim & Survive program.

Participants will begin the session with a warm-up, followed by individual and team swim and ball drills, followed by a FlippaBall game. The FlippaBall game is a modified game of water polo that is designed to reinforce skill development. It is a fun and simple game that can be played by all children regardless of their height, gender and most important of all, their swimming ability.

Fun and enjoyment are emphasised at all times throughout the program with activities designed to meet the competitive capabilities of the developing child.

“Just wanted to let you know that my daughter will be continuing with FlippaBall next term.
She has really enjoyed this term and the coaches have been fantastic and she has learnt a lot from them.
The coaches have done a terrific job especially with getting the kids involved.” KD
